The hair industry is constantly changing with new styles everyday and products guaranteed to strengthen one’s hair so that it will grow long and beautiful. Fox News recently published an article that listed the “Top 10 Foods that Improve your Hair,” from AskMen.com. These food items have essential vitamins and minerals men and women need that can improve the growth of their hair. They are also great for the nails and body and range from iron, zinc, B vitamins (B1, B6, B7, B9, B12), and omega-6 fatty acids. The foods that provide these great vitamins and minerals are prunes, green peas, shrimp, steel-cut oats, kidney beans, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, eggs, and calf liver. Sardines are last on the list and are full of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D, both of which have been linked to preventing hair loss in chemotherapy patients. For a great hair- revitalization delight, drop a handful of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, walnuts, almonds, and raisins in a bag. Makes a wonderful trail mix!

We have heard it said by doctors, nutritionist and health experts that “you are what you eat.” The conviction of many mature Believers’ is that the same principles that applies to what you eat also applies to “you are what you think, feel, say, and do.” Those who follow the Word of God believes the scriptures where Apostle Paul said,

Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies. – Philippians 4:8-9 The Message

In my newly published book, “God’s Holy Spirit: Maturing Believers for the Building of His Kingdom,” there are power-packed lessons on how you can become a mature Christian. With becoming a mature Christian your health will improve inside and out because you are not clouding your mind with negative thoughts. The Mayo Clinic published an article on their website titled, “Positive thinking: Reduce stress by eliminating negative self-talk. Positive thinking helps with stress management and can even improve your health.”

Jesus told his disciples that what comes out of the mouth of man began in the heart, and the heart defiles the whole man. (Matthew15:18 NKJ) Researchers listed some of the health benefits associated with positive thinking: Increased life span, lower rates of depression, lower levels of distress, greater resistance to the common cold, better psychological and physical well-being, reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease, better coping-skills during hardships and times of stress.

Readers will also gain from reading, “God’s Holy Spirit: Maturing Believers for the Building of His Kingdom,” that learning to become people who are selfless and are willing to serve, build and edify others is another key principle to mental and physical health. We are our brothers’ and sisters’ keeper. That is clearly stated in Ezekiel 3:17-21 KJV that we are to look after, and take care of each other. Christ reiterated this same message to His disciples and those who listened to His teachings.

I am a product of growing mature in Christ, from a past of depression, guilt and shame. You know, many Believers struggle with their daunting pasts. They are depressed and carry so much guilt. However, I can now say that I am an over comer and God’s Word has helped me understand who I am, and whose I am. Clearly, I am not my own; therefore, I must make a conscious decision to take care of my body, which is His temple. And know that when I concentrate on His Word, and practice positive thinking, my mind, body and spirit will stay healthy. The next step for me is physical exercise. How to, get physically in shape, and improve my health through exercise!
